Education
Detailed information about my education and work history can be found in my portfolio (currently only in Finnish).
I graduated lukio, the Finnish high school, the year 2002. I had 5 art courses there, one of them being the art diploma, of which I got 5 out of 5 points.
After lukio I applied to the Art Academy at Turku Polytechnics to the line of Digital Arts and graduated from there in the year 2006. The curriculum concentrated on media art and new media.
In junior high school I was in an English oriented class. In my third year in Digital Arts I spent 5 months as an echange student in Kyoto Seika University in Japan, studying comics.
Currently I'm working at an advertising agency in Turku called Mainostoimisto SST. I'm working in the web design department with three other people. In addition to that, I'm the cheaf editor of Finnmanga, a magazine for Finnish manga inspired comics. I also have some of my own comic and illustration projects.
Interests
As you might notice when you browse my site, one of the things I like is comics. I'm especially interested in Japanese comics and animation (manga and anime). I thought about applying to study animation, but they took no applications the year I graduated from high school. So I chose another one of my interests, media art. I'm very happy I came to choose that curriculum, though, and nowadays web desing and developing is my primary work field. Still, one of my dreams is to join comics into my work.
In my free time I like to draw and design web pages. Or at least liked to when I had time to do it besides at work... I do both visuals and coding for websites. I've known HTML for ages and I've also worked with PHP, CSS and MySQL for years. I also find Flash very interesting, but I haven't had the chance to get very deep into it yet. 3D seems like fun, too, but with that, I'm afraid I'll never be very good ^_^
My non-artistic hobbies include among others games and the Japanese language. I've quit the board of our local anime club, but I still take part in arranging all sorts of activities for anime and manga fans, especially things that include art or drawing. I also use a lot of time just hanging in the web.
