I've kinda wanted to make a really big and fine dollhouse since I was a kid. Lately I've been following a certain friend's project with a kind of an envy that whispers in my ear "why can't I have one of those?" I went se admire her dollhouse the other day and when she heard of my inclination, she handed me a few little items for my future project. That made me think: why can't I start collecting and making stuff myself, even if I don't have room to make a full house yet? Why not?
So I started. And now I'm officially one of those silly people who hoard all sorts of small stuff in case something can be made out of it :) (As if I wasn't like that already... :P)
I've rummaged my bags and boxes during the last few days and yesterday night I crafted some small things. Here are photos of what I have so far. (Yay, a home-made little studio out of, well, only an empty envelope :P)

First some kitchen supplies: the cake tin in the upper left corner is one of the things I got from kipene. Then there's a couple of bowls made from Easter egg toy containers and a "casserole mould" that's actually the cap of a soap bottle. The red thing in the middle is clearly a thermos bottle (some candy container), then there's a smaller mould thing (the cover of a display cord) and a piece I cut out from the center of that cake mold. It can be some sort of container, too, I don't yet know what exactly. Oh, and the materials for the bottle scrubs were from kipene, too :)

More kitchen stuff: another cake tin from kipene, a sparkle container that'll be a spaghetti container as soon as it's emptied, a glass bottle I've had for ages (currently there are ashes inside - don't ask why, they've also been there for ages) and a bucket with a cover. The scrubs are cut from the container of some computer thingie or something, but they're the wrong colour so I think I'll replace them sometime later. Then there are two towels cut from from a bandage. They're a bit thick, but I'll make some use of them.

Woo, look at that fan! :D I think I've gotten it from my big sister when I was small and it's been hanging on the wall of my childhood room ever since (even after I moved out). When I saw it I had to snatch it! :D Maybe it'll be fashionable again ;) The bird cage is also something I've had for ages, and the Christmas decoration is from a cake I had in Japan :)

My house is going to have one big collection of wine glasses. My parents like this liqueur called Kirchberry or something, and the bottle at least used to have a small glass inside the emblem. Even as a kid I saw the possibilities of those glasses and collected every one :)

Then some candies! kipene had made a chocolate bar out of a chocolate candy wrapper. She passed one of them to me, and I made a couple for myself :) I think I like them the most of the things I've made so far. The lining of the candy paper had smaller text on it, so I went on and made a few candies as well. The metal container is a sort of a lip balm, and I'll use it as a cookie box as soon as it's empty.

More small crafts: kipene also has a little knitwork someone gave her. It was so cute I had to make one, too. I couldn't find those regular, headless clothing pins, so I had to use the ones with a plastic head. The thread is mouline thread. And those two nails are going to be another pair of knitting pins - I think I'll try to file them a little rounder first, though.

One of the coolest things I found at my parents' is a real dollhouse vanity mirror, with a light. The wires are very worn out, but I'm sure I can make something out of them!

Then there's a bunch of stuff that might make something useful. The clock is a key chain - it might be nice on a mantle or something. The lock is from a diary and the tit (bird! :P) is a small whistle. The file holder thingies are an interesting item: the backboard is some kind of a surface sample from my parent's work (they're architects). The clips are again something I've found sometime. The sets are from my childhood, and I've used them when I've played doll school.

And last, this is a savings letter box I've gotten as a souvenir from Denmark. Actually I wanted the key, but since it goes to the box I thought I might as well take the whole thing.
And that's all for now! There are still some garden elves, dolls, toy boats, dogs and stuff in a box that contains a bunch of my Easter egg surprise toys from childhood :P But those are so deep down in my closet that I don't think I'll uncover them until I have a house to put them into, or until kipene comes to have a return present for the stuff she gave :)
Some day I'm going to combine this dollhouse hobby with the bonsai hobby, and that'll be fun ;)
